Bike Rentals on Topsail Island
Flat roads make Topsail an easy place to ride. Beach cruisers and e-bikes are the main rentals, and several shops deliver them to your door; locks and helmets are included or available, depending on the shop.
E-bikes cover longer rides easily but come with age rules, and Topsail Surf & Cycle doesn’t allow its e-bikes on the beach.

How to choose
Cruiser or e-bike?
Cruisers are simple and fine for short trips to the beach access, pier or ice cream. E-bikes make longer rides easy, such as from one end of town to the other.
Riding with kids
Look for kid sizes, tandems and trailers. Topsail Surf & Cycle rents kid trailers and tandems; 50 South has youth and kid cruisers. Topsail Surf & Cycle requires helmets for riders under 16.
Delivery depends on the shop
50 South advertises free local delivery and pickup but doesn’t publish its area. Topsail Surf & Cycle delivers free in Surf City and charges a small fee for North Topsail Beach; its site words Topsail Beach inconsistently, so confirm. Drop In charges for 24-hour rentals and delivers free on rentals of three days or more. Give your exact address when you book.
Before you book
Each shop sets its own e-bike rules. At Topsail Surf & Cycle, e-bike riders must be 16 or older, a 16-year-old rides with a parent or guardian, riders 18 and older may ride alone, and its e-bikes may not be ridden on the beach. For a 17-year-old, ask the shop. Ask your shop about its rules, and check the town’s beach rules before riding on the sand.

Can I ride a bike on the beach?
Check with your rental shop and the town first. Topsail Surf & Cycle doesn’t allow its e-bikes on the beach; if you want to ride on sand, ask about fat-tire bikes.
Do rentals include helmets and locks?
It depends on the shop. 50 South includes a lock, helmet and handlebar bag; Topsail Surf & Cycle includes a lock and bag, with helmets available.
How long can I rent a bike?
From a couple of hours to two weeks, depending on the shop.
