Ironclad is a public golf course in Hampstead with a sprawling, multi-level beer garden attached, owned by the team behind Wilmington’s Ironclad Brewery. Shaka Taco cooks on site, the Shaka Stage hosts weekend bands, and you can make an afternoon or evening of it with or without your clubs.
What stands out
The beer garden is the pleasant surprise: Ironclad’s own beers and local taps, Shaka Taco’s food, and a full weekly calendar under the string lights. On the course, value is the strength and conditions the weak spot, though recent golfers say it’s steadily improving; pace of play can slow at busy times.
What to order
- Ironclad Brewery beerThe Kölsch, Smoked Honey Lager or Hoppy Gilmore IPA, plus six rotating local taps.
- A house cocktailThe Sharkarita, or a smoky mezcal lemonade with Old Bay.
- Shaka Taco tacosServed throughout the venue, with queso and chips to share.
The setting
A big, open-air space of picnic tables, string lights and a stage. Live music runs Friday through Sunday, with Monday music bingo, Tuesday line dancing, Wednesday trivia and a Thursday farmers market from 4 to 7pm. After dark, the lighted driving range has fire tables and the pickleball courts stay lit.
