Godwin’s Market
Godwin’s has been the corner store on the south end of Topsail Island since 1949. After it closed in 2020, new owners renovated and reopened it in April 2023, keeping the name and the old look from the street. It’s the only grocery stop in Topsail Beach; the nearest supermarket is about seven miles away in Surf City.
What stands out
Longtime visitors were glad to see it back, and the most common praise is simple: it’s clean, well stocked for its size, and saves a drive up the island in summer traffic. Expect snacks, drinks, coffee, beer and wine, and the staples you ran out of, like milk, eggs, bacon and cheese. It’s a top-up stop rather than a week’s shopping, with island prices to match.
