Davis Seafood

The Davis family shrimp trawler Capt. Davis at sea

The Davis family has sold seafood from the same Sneads Ferry waterfront since 1949, and their own shrimp boats still supply the market. You buy on the dock, often within sight of the boats that brought the catch in. It’s about as close to the source as a vacation dinner gets.

What stands out

Visitors describe sweet, just-landed shrimp and a family that takes its time: explaining the options, offering cooking tips, even showing kids the catch. Some repeat guests plan every meal of their rental week around it. The catch decides what’s for sale. When the day’s seafood sells out, they close, so a call or text first is essential.

What to pick up

  • Fresh shrimpThe heart of the business. Spotted and pink shrimp come in spring, brown in summer, and white from September to about Thanksgiving.
  • Handmade lump crab cakesA favorite with repeat customers.
  • Dry-pack sea scallopsPacked with no chemicals or preservatives.
  • Local fishGrouper, flounder, tuna or mahi, depending on the season, plus soft-shell crabs in season.

Before you go

  • Always call (910) 327-4081 or text (910) 612-8440 before you go. In September 2026 the family posted that walk-up hours were very limited while they readied the boats for the fall season.
  • Ice comes free with your purchase. They’ll clean your seafood or show you how.
  • All seafood is wild caught in the USA, never farm raised.
