Baked Pizza Company is a family-run pizza and sub shop in Sneads Ferry, a short drive from North Topsail Beach. The owner grew up here, learned to make pizza at a Surf City pizzeria as a teenager and opened Baked in 2013. It is our go-to when the house wants pizza, a big salad and good subs from one place, whether you sit down, pick up or have it delivered.
Our local pick
We don’t say this about many places: the Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza here is one of the best pizzas our team has had anywhere. Round it out with a salad and the house ranch, which we think is the best ranch around, and a Sam Adam sub for whoever isn’t in a pizza mood.
- Chicken Bacon Ranch pizzaHand-breaded fried chicken, bacon, red onion and mozzarella on a ranch base, finished with more ranch. Our first order.
- A salad with the house ranchFresh salads, and ranch good enough that you’ll want extra (it’s a small add-on charge).
- The Sam Adam subProvolone, Genoa salami, ham and pepperoni with lettuce, tomato, red onion, banana peppers, house dressing and mayo. Our favorite sub on the menu.

What people order

- The W.M.D.For the adventurous: BBQ base, fried chicken, bacon, pineapple, jalapeños and red onion, with ranch and hot-sauce drizzles.
- Stromboli and specialty rollsRolled and baked, with red sauce on the side. An easy dinner for two.
- Baked pastas and parm heroesBaked ziti, chicken parm and eggplant rollatini for anyone who wants a plate instead of a slice.
- Wings and garlic knotsTen bone-in wings in hot, mild, Carolina BBQ or Knotty Gringo, a spicy BBQ blend. Garlic knots are the cheap, easy add-on.
Feeding a houseful
- Pizzas come in 12-inch, 16-inch and a 22-inch “House” size. For a big family or two families sharing a rental, the 22-inch pie is the way to go.
- Order online for pickup or delivery. Delivery is a real help on arrival night, when nobody wants to go back out. Check that your rental address is in their delivery area when you order.
- Keep it balanced: a couple of specialty pies, a large salad or two with extra ranch, and a tray of subs covers nearly everyone.
- They deliver beer and wine too, from a list that includes eight beers on tap at the restaurant.
The vibe
A casual local pizza shop in a red barn-style building with a screened front porch. It has a fun streak, including nods to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and it is kid-friendly and popular with Sneads Ferry locals, not just visitors.
The family behind it has kept it going for more than 13 years, through slow early seasons and the pandemic. You can feel that it is their place.
Good to know
- Pizza by the slice is a lunch deal: slices stop at 4 pm. Two slices and a drink makes an easy, inexpensive lunch.
- Hot heroes are served toasted.
- It can get busy, and some visitors mention slower service at peak times. Ordering ahead for pickup avoids the wait.
- If someone needs gluten-free or has another dietary need, call and ask what they can do before you order.
